Bugh Equine Center

In the business of babies.

Dedicated to the individualized care, health, comfort, and
responsible reproduction of our equine residents.

Bugh Equine Center is a boutique sporthorse breeding and training program dedicated to high quality horse care and training.  We are committed to producing horses with solid minds and bodies, rideability, exceptional movement, and impeccable temperaments.

The Bugh Equine Center was established by Alverna and Tim Bugh in January, 2007 with the purchase of a small horse farm located on the western outskirts of Dayton, Ohio.  The farm is located in Montgomery County, approx. 10 minutes South of I-70 or approx. 15 minutes West of the I-75/Rt. 35 interchange.

Alverna Hess Bugh has been a horse owner since the tender age of six.  She participated in 4-H, Hippology, and Horse Judging at a state and national level.  During college, Alverna was a participating member of the OSU Equestrian Team and OSU Horseman's Association.  She has training in Natural Horsemanship approaches, de-sensitization training, dressage, hunter/jumpers, and eventing.  Alverna is a 2005 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Sciences focusing in Equine Science.  Equine coursework includes: Equine Nutrition, Equine Farm Operation & Marketing, Breaking & Training/Farrier Science, Equine Selection & Evaluation, and Equine Reproduction.  After graduation, she spent three months as a young horse trainer at Cedar Lane Farm in Eaton, Ohio.  While there, Alverna learned and practiced showing on the line at area shows and the 2005 National Haflinger Show.  Alverna's charges took top honors in almost all of their classes.  Eventually, Alverna's goal is to establish a high caliber breeding farm offering full reproductive services for both mares and stallions.

Tim Bugh met Alverna with no equine background whatsoever.  That quickly changed...

Tim is the farm's maintenance department, has become excellect at picking stalls, and he has a great eye for detail when it comes to horse health and safety.  Tim has been rehabbing Bugh Equine Center's foster horse, an off the track Thoroughbred gelding named Beau.
