Alverna and a young horse practicing some de-sensitization exercises.  Note the loose lead and the horse's relaxed expression.

Alverna can bounce the ball on top of the yong horse's back without any concern from the horse.

Alverna and a young gelding crossing the mattress at a de-sensitization training clinic held at the Kentucky Horse Park in 2005.  The clinic was taught by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the London Metropolitan Police, and the Lexington Mounted Police.

During the same clinic, Alverna rode her mount through an obstacle course.  Note her loose rein and the horse's happy, relaxed expression.

Alverna's horse walks quietly and willingly up steps, over the "bridge", and down steps on the other side.  They later rode over the obstacle.

Alverna encourages a young colt's trust and friendliness.
